George – Yoga Instructor

Many people are attracted to yoga as a way to learn the amazing and beautiful asanas (postures), but for me, this was not the case, they terrified me and as a 20 year old who couldn’t even touch her toes I thought that yoga was definitely not for me. I had the misconception that a lot of people do, that yoga is just about the postures. But after taking a class whilst travelling in Bali, with an emphasis on how it felt, rather than how it looked, I fell in love and felt like I floated out of the class.

I continued to go to classes when I returned home, my body gradually started to open up but I had not foreseen how beneficial yoga would be for my wellbeing and mental health, and so I became interested in yoga philosophy and started to self-practice more often.

I decided to train to teach as I wanted to learn more yoga in more depth, as well as being able to encourage anyone who said ‘I can’t do yoga, I can’t even touch my toes’ that touching your toes doesn’t even matter, and that if you can breathe, you can do yoga. I studied my 200hr in Goa, India, in 2018 and have been teaching ever since.

I teach a vinyasa flow based class, linking movement to breath, with elements of mindfulness, I provide clear guidance but encourage you to explore your own movements and turn your attention to yourself, and aim to have everyone leave my class with a clearer mind, and energised yet peaceful.

I believe yoga can be for everyone, my classes aim to provide a safe space, with no judgment and options for everyone.
